Harare’s Copacabana Bus Terminus

Copacabana bus station in the heart of Harare Zimbabwe is one of the busiest areas in the Sunshine City. Traffic sometimes reaches a stand still as vehicles and pedestrians come together to give the city council a daily headache. Refuse piles up everyday on the sidewalk. Despite having several refuse bins around the area, people just seem to prefer throwing their litter on the ground.

I took a quick visit to the station in the early hours of Monday morning and l documented these events. While l am unable to provide a prescription for the problem,  it does seem that the area is over populated and no matter how many times they try to clean the environment it gets dirty at a rapid rate due to the number of vendors that are left to set up shop wherever they please.
