PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — The ticket-selling leader remained the same at multiplexes over the weekend.

The Butler cleaned up again.

For the second weekend in a row, director Lee Daniels’ The Butler, the racial bio-drama starring Forest Whitaker and Oprah Winfrey, finished first at the box office, earning an additional $17-million.

Second place went to another holdover, the comedy, We’re the Millers.

It took in just under $14-million.

The next two slots belonged to new releases.

The fantasy adventure, Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, was third with just over $9-million, while the British comedy, The World’s End, took fourth with just under $9-million.

The weekend’s other new attraction was the comedic horror thriller, You’re Next. It debuted with $7-million, good for seventh place.

Overall, industry-wide box office on a traditionally slow weekend was slightly higher than the modest collective total of a year ago.
